Welcome to BYOC Camps and Clubs
BYOC (Build Your Own Computer) Camps and Clubs is a part of the Academy for Technologists Extraordinaire (ATE), Inc, a 501(c)3 organization that develops extraordinary minority youth for STEM careers.
BYOC Camps and Clubs is an organization in the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana Tri-State area that ignites a passion for technology in underrepresented youth through year-round programs, and summer camps. Our mission is to build a pipeline of minority youth for tech careers. We prepare youth for a variety of technology careers: computer engineer, electronics engineer, computer scientist, information technologist, graphics designer, 3D animator, multimedia production, applications developer, game designer, web designer/developer and more.
BYOC Camps and Clubs was founded in 2014 by Robin Walker, an IT professional who believes that our youth shape the future and engaging youth in technology early will shape the future of technology. Robin believes that all youth need a foundation in technology regardless of their chosen career path because technology will be wherever they go. BYOC Camps and Clubs is preparation for the future.
Building A Computer is:
Transformational
BYOC is a transformative experience for many campers that has changed career trajectories. We believe that it is important to attract young people to STEM early through fun and creative ways. BYOC creates an environment that values creative and intuitive minds where the culture of STEM can thrive.
Past participants describe their experience in BYOC as life-changing. Here's a quote from the parent of one camper:
"Camp BYOC has been phenomenal for my daughter. She is really strongly considering a career in technology and enjoys the time she gets to spend learning this new language."
